I have never found myself waiting around for them to cool. You do have to let themselves burn off the wood though, and that does take a bit of time -- but certainly a LOT less than for a traditional campfire on the ground.

HJHikin' Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01554269915148144573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-19762005315998804802015-06-03T20:55:47.640-07:002015-06-03T20:55:47.640-07:00Hi there - Thanks for the details in the article. ...Hi there - Thanks for the details in the article. I'm new to through hiking and don't currently have ANY stove option - so I'm researching the 'one' that I can buy and keep for years to come. Of the two discussed here - how long do you normally need to wait before you can pack up and leave. E.g. after making a hot drink in the morning - how long before you can safely pack away the stove. I'm nervous about having to hang about camp for things to cool down, before I can break down the set-up and stow in my backpack again. Thoughts? From raging fire to safe to stow - what timeframe are we talking?SV-Footprinthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05580604213296592771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-67106030585248308312012-03-12T11:25:40.686-07:002012-03-12T11:25:40.686-07:00Hi, Phillip,

It was a fun one to write.

HJHikin' Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01554269915148144573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-66407163773335575362012-03-11T17:51:54.546-07:002012-03-11T17:51:54.546-07:00Great article Jim. I ended up going with the ti-tri mostly for the weight savings but thought the BB ultra may be a superior stove. I'm glad to have read your comparison of the two and I must say my findings with the ti-tri totally correspond with yours. Now that I have your experiences to compare to I'm sure I made the right choice.

PhillipThruPerspective.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13919514300402014797noreply@blogger.com
