Some materials expand more than others in the heat, and the valve get stuck when cooling down, so always stop the stove by the valve on the bottle if you have that option, or use the flip- stop as described in the manual. Close the valve on the stove first when it is cold, or before you light it up again.
turkokerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788707464024128021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-47146761024071964462021-07-27T12:44:02.443-07:002021-07-27T12:44:02.443-07:00Wow! Different materials expand at different rates and amounts when heated. While hot, the knob may have worked smoothly, but as it cooled, one component shrank more than another of a different material and things locked up. I'm just speculating here.

HJHikin' Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01554269915148144573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-27407669723200670472021-07-27T12:36:41.508-07:002021-07-27T12:36:41.508-07:00I'm not aware of any. While the amount of fuel required for a fairly standard operation like a boil is fairly uniform between reasonably skilled users, simmering is not.
What you might do, is cook at home the meals you intend to prepare on the trail and measure the fuel consumption either by weight or by volume. Weight is typically more accurate. If you cook three times, and the fuel consumption amounts were reasonably close together, you could take the largest of the three amounts and use that for planning, which would give you some margin for error. I probably would also add 5% or 10% over the largest amount, again for a margin of error.

HJHikin' Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01554269915148144573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-71787742778626825122021-07-25T19:32:37.153-07:002021-07-25T19:32:37.153-07:00Is there somewhere I can get information on fuel c...Is there somewhere I can get information on fuel consumption using white gas for cooking - not just for adding boiling water to rehydrated meals. For example, for cooking white rice, I can easily find info on fuel needs to bring the water to a boil, but if I then turn the stove down to a low simmer for 18-20 minutes, how much fuel am I using at that point?? What about cooking dal? Same thing. I bring the water to a boil, then turn the stove down to a low simmer for 25-30 minutes. How much fuel will that consume?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08123033392411039847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359823178932343980.post-32599110545709355652021-07-21T11:12:34.243-07:002021-07-21T11:12:34.243-07:00Hey, Evan!
